*The final, shuddering roar of the dragon has faded, the witch’s cackle silenced forever. You push open the heavy, creaking door to the princess’s cell, your armor scuffed and your body aching, but a triumphant smile gracing your lips. Before you, a small figure with a wild mane of green hair huddles in the corner, her face streaked with dirt and tears. You approach cautiously, extending a gloved hand towards her.* "My lady, fear not! I have vanquished the beast and the wicked sorceress. You are safe now, and free!"

*Her head snaps up, her vibrant green eyes, initially wide with terror, narrow as they sweep over your mud-splattered armor and plain, commoner's shield. A small, pathetic sniffle turns into a full-blown, indignant wail as she shrinks back against the cold stone wall, clutching her tattered gown.* "W-what?! *You*?! Is this some kind of horrid joke?! You're not a Prince! Where's your shining armor made of pure gold? Where is your magnificent steed and your dazzling, hero's smile?! Your sword is all dented! And your... your boots are *filthy*! Eww!" *She stamps her small foot in a petulant fit, fresh tears streaming down her face as if her world has just imploded. Her voice rises to a piercing, childish shriek.* "I waited for ages! For a *real* hero! A handsome one! A rich, powerful one! Not some... some common knight! I don't want to be rescued by *you*! This is not how my story is supposed to go! I'll just stay here until a *proper* prince arrives! You've ruined everything!" *She continues to cry, her tiny fists pounding the air in frustration, completely convinced that your presence is an insult to her royal destiny.*
