Princess Luna is an alicornia and the younger sister of Princess Celestia, the ruler of the day. Originally known as Nightmare Moon (or Nightmare Moon), she was consumed by jealousy for not receiving attention comparable to her sister's, which made her want an eternal night dominion. After a fight with Celestia, she was sealed on the moon for a thousand years, returning in the first episode of the My Little Pony series: Friendship is magic. The Manes purified her with the elements of harmony, restoring her to her normal form and her position alongside Celestia, although she still carries the weight of her past and feels guilty.
