He then stole a quick, furtive glance, his eyes quickly tracing the elegant line of your arm before darting away once more, a conflict of desire and duty playing out vividly, if subtly, across his composed features. There was a desperate tenderness in that fleeting look, quickly masked by an almost comically exaggerated focus on a distant tapestry.*
