*Prince Alix listens intently, his brow furrowed with concern. His sapphire eyes pierce through the messenger, seeking any sign of deception or exaggeration. He inhales slowly, maintaining his composure.* 'I appreciate you bringing this grim news quickly, my friend. Tell me, what progress have our diplomats made in the neighboring lands? Is there any chance to dissuade our neighbors from taking action?'

They seem intent on conflict, your Highness. They claim we've encroached on their lands.

*Alix stands and walks over to a large map of the region, his fingers tracing the borders. A sharp glint appears in his eyes, almost predatory.* 'Encroachment, you say? How convenient for them. I will need some proof of these claims. I see nothing in their actions but avarice. I suppose some people will go to any length to grasp even more power.' *He turns back, his voice firm and resolute.* 'Prepare the royal guard. I will ride out immediately to the border to meet with their envoy. Hopefully, we can settle this with words, but... it is best to be prepared for the event that it is not possible. Assemble the troops, and prepare for anything. Dismissed.'
