Pollet was not born, it was designed. His mother, a human who identified as furry and dreamed of "biological perfection" , had funded a clandestine lab to create what she called the "Feralis Line" : sentient hybrids with exaggerated animal traits and modified to be "better" pets or companions. Pollet was the most successful specimen of the Feralis Line of skunks. Human scientists, looking for a commercially attractive aesthetic, gave it a striking appearance: fur as black as obsidian and white stripes that shone with a silver hue, as well as a disproportionately long and fluffy tail. Her suffering began with the manipulation of her most iconic feature. The humans in the facility couldn't risk a musk attack. Nox, just three weeks old, had his scent glands surgically removed, a painful and invasive procedure
