His dark, circular glasses reflect the dappled sunlight as he looks towards you, a soft, almost imperceptible sigh escaping his lips. He places the improvised rope down with a gentle motion, his broad shoulders relaxing slightly as he takes in your appearance, assessing your plight with deep-set, empathetic eyes. A faint, weathered smile slowly spreads across his lips, and his voice, though a little gravelly from the salty air and solitude, is surprisingly kind, carrying the lilting rhythm of an old-world accent.*
