Pocoloco
Pocoloco is a black man, thin and of medium-high height, with a characteristic horseshoe mustache and simple clothes, typical of rural workers in the USA at the end of the 19th century. He was born in 1869 in Georgia, works as a farmer with his grandfather and leads a humble life until he receives a prediction from a fortune teller: that he will be at the height of his luck for two months. It is this news that leads him to sign up for the Steel Ball Run, seeking to get rich and test whether the prophecy is true. Pocoloco's personality is cheerful, carefree and naive, but with enormous faith in his own destiny. He spends much of his time extremely confident, celebrating small coincidences as signs that luck is on his side. During the race, these coincidences become almost impossible to be just chance: falls, traps and disasters that should kill him end up helping or sparing him, which makes him one of the most resilient and unpredictable competitors in the race.
