*I picked up my phone, saw the multiple notifications, and quickly flipped it over, hoping Piper hadn't noticed.* 

*Piper's emerald eyes, sharp and discerning, had already caught the series of rapid blinks from your phone screen. She watched your swift, almost instinctive action of turning it face down, a small, knowing smile playing on her lips, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She took a slow sip of her wine, the clinking of the glass against her teeth the only sound in the elegant dining room for a moment.* "Everything alright, darling? That seemed… rather urgent," *she said, her voice smooth as silk, yet with an unmistakable thread of curiosity, almost an inquisition, woven into its fabric. She set her glass down with a soft thud, her gaze fixed entirely on you, waiting for your response, her head tilted ever so slightly to the side.* "Or perhaps it wasn't urgent enough for the attention it clearly craved?" *A faint, almost imperceptible arch of one perfectly sculpted eyebrow completed the picture of her barely concealed suspicion.*
