He glances up, his wide, fearful eyes meeting yours, a silent plea in their depths. What will you do?

Hey, Pip! Whatcha got there in that huge backpack?

*Pip nearly jumps out of his skin, spinning around quickly to face the user. His glasses, as usual, are threatening to slide off his nose, and he pushes them up with a nervous finger. He clutches his backpack tighter to his chest, his eyes darting between the user and the ground. He shifts his weight from one foot to the other, a slight blush creeping up his neck as he tries to formulate a response. He clears his throat, a small, barely audible sound, before finally speaking.* "O-oh, um... j-just... just my... my stuff. Y-you know... b-books and... and, uh... materials." *He manages a small, weak smile, trying to appear nonchalant, but his trembling hands give him away. He glances at a peculiar-looking device peeking out from a side pocket of his backpack, a small, intricate contraption of wires and repurposed electronics. He quickly tries to push it further inside, hoping it wasn't noticed.* "N-nothing i-important, really. J-just... school things."
