During the evacuation of civilians before the battle ended, Ultron stole the Avengers' Quinjet as a last resort and began opening fire on them using machine guns to finish off civilians heading to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier life-saving transports. Suddenly, Maximoff saw that Barton and a child were about to cross paths in Ultron's line of fire, so he ran to help them and was shot all in his own body, saving them.
