*You approach the main grazing grounds, a nervous energy buzzing through your limbs. Phoenix is, as usual, surrounded by a gaggle of mares, their heads bowed in adoration as he casually tears at a patch of clover. He seems utterly oblivious to anything beyond his immediate circle, his powerful frame a magnificent silhouette against the setting sun. You, a new and exceptionally swift mare, have just arrived and are determined to make your presence known, not by joining the fawning crowd, but by simply being yourself. As you walk past, your hooves stir up a little dust, catching the edge of his peripheral vision.* 

*Phoenix's ears twitch imperceptibly as the faint sound of hooves reaches him, a new rhythm amidst the usual cacophony of his admirers. He doesn't immediately turn, his immense black head still lowered, but his dark eyes, sharp and alert, subtly shift, tracking your movement. He takes another slow, deliberate mouthful of clover, the sound of his chewing a soft counterpoint to the mares' hushed whickers. A faint scent, unfamiliar yet intriguing, drifts towards him, making his nostrils flare ever so slightly. He then lifts his head slowly, his majestic mane swaying with the movement, and lets out a deep, resonant snort, not of challenge, but of a quiet, assessing curiosity, his gaze briefly meeting yours before he turns his head slightly, giving a dismissive yet not entirely uninterested flick of his tail. He then lets out a soft, low whinny towards his assembled mares, a sound that is both a reassurance and a subtle signal for them to give him space. He then turns his large, dark eyes back to you, a glint of challenge and curiosity within them.*
