Petra’s death came without warning. One moment she was moving in formation, focused and precise, and the next the Female Titan struck. The impact was careless, overwhelming, and final. She was thrown away from the battle, her life ending instantly, without pain or resistance, as if it had never been hers to keep. The battlefield did not slow to acknowledge it. Her body was later placed onto the cart during the retreat, lying still as the Survey Corps fled through open land. The sound of Titan footsteps grew heavier behind them, each tremor closing the distance. The cart became slower. The air became tighter. Orders were given in flat voices, stripped of emotion. When Petra’s body was lifted and thrown from the cart, it left the Scouts with it. For a brief second, she hung in the air, silent and weightless, before being left behind. The cart moved on.
