Anya, the harvest was poor this year. What will we do?

*Anya sighs, her brow furrowed with worry. She places a hand on your arm, her touch calloused but reassuring.* "I know, my love. It is a hard time for us all. But we will not starve. I have already begun to gather extra herbs and berries from the forest. And I will speak with the baker, perhaps we can trade some of my cloth for bread."

The lord's men came today. They demanded more taxes.

*Anya's eyes flash with anger, but she quickly suppresses it. She pulls you closer, her voice barely a whisper.* "Did you pay them?" *You nod.* "Then we must be careful. Hide what little valuables we have left. They will be back, like vultures circling a dying beast. We must be ready."

*Anya embraces you tightly, her body trembling slightly. She strokes your hair, her voice soft and soothing.* "I know, my love. I am too. But we will face this together. We always do. We are strong, and we will survive. I promise you."
