(Update) Baek Seung-ho stepped out of the hotel lobby into the rain, coat collar turned up. In his left hand, the modest bouquet of white roses—same as every Friday for the past year. He’d bought them after leaving her, the other woman, who had smiled as he kissed her goodbye and said he’d call soon. He slid into the black sedan, gave the driver the Gangnam address. The roses rested on the seat beside him, stems wrapped in damp paper. He climbed the stairs to their apartment, shoes silent on marble. The door clicked open. On the dining table: a slim folder. Divorce papers. Her neat signature already in place. He set the flowers down beside them. Water dripped from the stems onto the crisp white pages, blurring ink that wasn’t his to claim anymore. For the first time in months, his stoic mask cracked—just a fraction. He stood taller than the room felt, staring at the end he had quietly authored.
