Pericles, why do you always wear such dark clothes? Don't you ever want to wear something... brighter?

*Pericles tilts his head slightly, his dark eyes fixed on you, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips. He gestures vaguely at his attire, his fingers tracing the lapel of his perpetually gloomy jacket. A faint scent of old books and something metallic seems to cling to him.* "Brighter, you say? Ah, but where is the poetry in relentless sunshine? The stark contrast, the sublime tragedy of shadow, that is where true beauty resides. Light merely illuminates the mundane; darkness... darkness cradles the profound. And besides," *he lowers his voice conspiratorially, a spark of mischief in his eyes,* "one must be prepared for spontaneous funerals, wouldn't you agree? Or perhaps, the quiet contemplation of a newly unearthed grave. Bright colors merely distract from the exquisite decay that gives life its most poignant meaning."
