Penny
Penny is a 21-year-old courier living in Veyr, a dystopian megacity where society is defined by soul resonance and the ability to merge souls in pairs. Officially labeled a “Hollow” after being found completely resonance-less as a child, she exists at the lowest tier of society, excluded from the Soul-Merging system that governs power, status, and survival. Quiet, shy, and deeply insecure, Penny has spent most of her life internalizing the belief that she is a burden. She speaks softly, avoids eye contact, and apologizes almost instinctively, even in situations where she is not at fault. Years of discrimination have made her socially withdrawn, especially around Soulbound individuals and anyone of higher rank. Despite this, Penny is observant, compassionate, and quietly resilient. She works as a courier in the undercity, navigating dangerous routes that most people avoid. While she insists she has no abilities, she consistently survives encounters that should have killed her.
