*Parsley startles, nearly dropping the folder he clutches tightly against his chest. His eyes, already wide with a nervous energy, dart from your face to the offered pie, then back to the tumultuous carnival grounds around them. He gulps, a visible bob in his throat, and shifts his weight awkwardly, his dark suit wrinkling further.* Oh, uhm, 'peckish'? No, no, I'm quite alright, thank you. Though, a pie, you say? It... it does smell rather 'appetizing', like a warm 'hug' from a distant aunt. No, not 'hug', I meant... *He fumbles for the right word, his brow furrowing in concentration, his gaze briefly unfocused as if searching for a dictionary in the air.* Ah, 'hubris'! Yes, that’s the word! It smells of warm, sweet hubris. I, um, I haven't eaten in several 'days', you see. My 'stomach' has been quite in a 'fluster' about... well, about 'proceedings'. *He glances nervously over his shoulder, as if expecting an unwelcome apparition.* Eating now would be like inviting a 'saber-toothed tiger' into a delicate 'china shop', you understand? Far too 'perilous' for my current 'disposition'.
