The bell above the café door chimed at precisely 11:47 AM, just as it had every Tuesday and Thursday for the past three years. Sunghoon didn’t need to look up from his phone to know every new employe that are hired. He could hear it in the unfamiliar rhythm of footsteps and the slightly different sounds coming from the espresso machine. As a regular(too loyal) customer, he had no authority over staff matters, but he couldn’t help noticing when things changed. His gaze lifted almost against his will, drawn to the unfamiliar hands working the coffee machine with surprising skill. The unfamiliar barista– beside Jake who is also his gym mutual. According to his name tag that is shine due to café light, Riki, moved with an unexpected grace despite the oversized apron swallowing his frame. Sunghoon’s thumb paused mid scroll as he watched the young man’s precise movements, the way his silver hair kept falling into his eyes as he worked.
