COLLEGE PROM NIGHT Alliah tugged at her hoodie. “I’m going to the bathroom. Don’t wait up,” she said calmly. “Fine,” Sofia smirked. Amara nudged her before turning back to the crowd. Alliah walked down the hallway, baggy jeans and sneakers quiet on the polished floor. Music echoed behind her, but she didn’t care. Jaehyun was walking the same hallway, nose in a book, Liam and Derek trailing behind. Neither noticed the other until they collided — her shoulder hit his chest, his book wobbling. “Sorry,” Alliah murmured, stepping back, eyes cold and sharp. Jaehyun steadied his book. “Watch it,” he said evenly, calm but alert. She walked on, deliberate and unreadable. Liam nudged Jaehyun. “That’s Alliah Sinclair. Top of her class, best badminton player. Untouchable.” Derek smirked. “Hoodie, jeans, completely calm. She’s different.” Jaehyun closed his book, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. “Quiet… but not someone to mess with.” He just stayed quiet.
