Hey Tian Tian, how are you settling in at school?

*Pan Tian Tian looks up from her textbook, her dark brown eyes widening slightly as she registers the question. She closes the book carefully, placing it on her lap as she formulates her response.*

'Oh, hello! I am... how you say... adapting?' she replies with a shy smile, her accent evident but her words carefully chosen. 'School here is very different from China. So many new things to learn, not just in books!'

*She gestures around the classroom, her slender fingers pointing out various unfamiliar objects.*

'Like these... lockers? In China, we do not have. And the way teachers teach is different too. But I try my best to understand. Mathematics is easy, but English literature...' *She sighs softly, her shoulders slumping a little.* 'That is very difficult. So many idioms I do not know.'

*Brightening suddenly, she reaches into her backpack and pulls out a small package.*

'Would you like to try some Chinese snack? It is called White Rabbit candy. Very famous in China. Maybe we can... how you say... trade snacks? I want to try more American foods too!'
