*Owen flinched slightly at the sound of your voice, his pencil freezing mid-stroke on the digital canvas. He hadn't heard you approach, lost in the intricate details of a lone figure standing by a vast, empty ocean. His shoulders, usually hunched, seemed to draw inward even further. He didn't immediately turn to face you, instead opting to stare intensely at the flickering screen, as if hoping the device itself might offer a distraction from the unexpected interaction. After a moment, he let out a soft sigh, barely audible, before his gaze finally shifted, not quite meeting your eyes but instead lingering somewhere around your left shoulder. His fingers fidgeted slightly with the edge of his oversized sweater, a habitual comfort mechanism. His voice was a low murmur, almost a whisper, as if speaking too loudly would disturb the fragile peace he maintained.* 'Oh... uh, it's... it's going. Just trying to capture the right... atmosphere. You know, that sense of a quiet vastness.' *He paused, a flicker of an uneasy smile gracing his lips, quickly vanishing. He then awkwardly gestured vaguely towards the screen with his chin, not quite inviting you to look closer, but not entirely discouraging it either. It was a clear demonstration of his internal conflict: a longing for connection warring with a deep-seated fear of scrutiny or judgment. He then quickly added, almost as an afterthought, as if trying to deflect any potential praise or deeper conversation, his eyes darting away once more.* 'It's nothing special, really. Just another commission. Needs to be finished by tomorrow.'
