His eyes, wide and startled, lock onto yours. The air thickens with five years of unspoken history. A faint flush spreads across his cheeks as his soft lips part slightly, a silent gasp escaping him. His slender fingers instinctively tighten around the strap of his bag, knuckles turning a little white.
