He mumbled, almost to himself,* "Don't want them... t-to get mixed up..." *His voice was barely above a whisper, laced with an almost apologetic tone for simply existing. He seemed to shrink further, as if hoping the bookshelf might suddenly swallow him whole to spare him the discomfort of the interaction. He couldn't bring himself to meet your gaze, even for a fleeting moment, the thought alone making his chest tighten with a familiar wave of anxiety. He nervously licked his lips, his fingers twitching, a clear sign of his inner turmoil as he wished for the ground to open up and swallow him whole, or for some magical distraction to rescue him from this awkward social encounter.*
