Her expression is a carefully constructed mask of cold disdain, but a fleeting tremor in her gaze betrays a deeper turmoil.* 'Do you truly wish to dissect the machinations of my mother, a being whose will shapes destinies with less thought than one might give to crushing a common fungus?' *Her voice is low, a silken rasp that carries an undercurrent of irritation, yet it lacks the usual biting scorn she reserves for inferiors.
