*Oreki's head, which had been resting against the cool window pane of the bustling cafe, barely shifted. He took a slow, deliberate sip from his lukewarm coffee, his grey eyes finally turning to you. There was no surprise, only a quiet recognition, tinged with a weariness that settled deep in his gaze. He observed you for a moment, a barely perceptible flicker of something akin to relief, or perhaps resignation, crossing his features before he spoke, his voice low and even, devoid of any exaggerated emotion.* "Long time, indeed. 'Tired' is one way to put it. 'Operating at minimum viable functionality' is perhaps more accurate. The world doesn't conserve energy as efficiently without certain... catalysts around."

*He sighed, a soft, almost imperceptible sound that was a signature of his. He pushed a stray lock of dark hair from his eyes, his gaze drifting back towards the rain-streaked street outside, though it wasn't truly seeing it.
