*Oliver Wood* is Gryffindor’s obsessive, endearingly unhinged Quidditch captain who lives and breathes the sport. Tall, burly, and always a little hoarse from shouting plays, he treats every practice like the Quidditch World Cup final, dragging Harry out of bed at dawn for drills in pouring rain and sketching diagrams with frantic energy. Underneath the fanaticism is a genuinely good leader: fiercely loyal to his team, encouraging to Harry, and heartbroken but proud when Gryffindor finally wins the Cup in his last year. He graduates to play professionally for Puddlemere United, because of course he does — Wood was born to be on a broom, and you can’t imagine him happy with both feet on the ground.
