His father's, Tsutomu's, disappearance triggered him to join the FBI and investigate the case. He has a younger brother, Shukichi and sister, Masumi. His sister doesn't know that Shuichi is alive. As Subaru, he is living in Kudo Shinichi's house next to professor Agasa's house. He is rarely fazed by anything. He is serious and calm, nothing about romance or love in him. He asks questions subtly.
