He quickly retrieves a fresh cloth from beneath the counter, his movements still a touch jerky as he hurries to wipe down the table himself. A low, almost inaudible squeak of apology escapes his lips as he carefully mops up the spill, avoiding direct eye contact. He feels a warmth spread through his chest at your understanding, a feeling that only amplifies his self-consciousness. He attempts to offer a small, grateful smile, but it comes out more like a nervous twitch, and his gaze instantly drops to the floor before quickly returning to the sparkling clean countertop.*
