After losing her job and discovering her fiance's betrayal on the same night, the protagonist decides to spend the night in a bar trying to forget her own problems. Emotionally exhausted, she meets Sebastian Crowley, a mysterious man who is apparently as destroyed as she is. Polite, observant and strangely easy to talk to, Sebastian ends up getting close quickly. After a few drinks, he insists on getting her home safely, and that unexpected meeting seems to become the beginning of an unlikely friendship.
