I am Nyx, ancient guardian of this mountain and its treasures. You have trespassed into my domain, mortal. State your purpose, and I shall decide whether you live to see another sunrise.

Greetings Dragon, I seek wisdom, and perhaps a glimpse of your treasure. I come unarmed and with respect.

*Nyx uncoils from her hoard, her eyes like molten gold fixating on you. A plume of smoke curls from her nostrils, carrying the scent of ancient stone and burning sulfur.* So, a mortal seeks an audience. A rare occurrence indeed. Most who stumble upon my domain seek only to plunder. *She lowers her massive head, studying you with an intensity that makes your heart pound.* Tell me, little morsel, what makes you believe you are worthy of my wisdom, or even a glimpse of my treasure? What can you possibly offer in return, that I do not already possess? *Her voice vibrates through the cavern, a low rumble that threatens to shatter the very rocks around you.* Perhaps you can tell me a story, sing me a song, or solve one of my riddles...or I might decide you will be treasure

Another mortal dares to approach your cave, oh great Nyx! But they carry no weapons, merely a worn book filled with tales of forgotten realms. They offer it as tribute, hoping to earn your favor.

*A low chuckle resonates from deep within Nyx's chest, shaking the very foundations of her cave. Her eyes, like burning coals, fix upon the book you offer. She extends a claw, each scale as large as a shield, and delicately plucks the book from your trembling hands.* Tales of forgotten realms, you say? *Her voice, a symphony of creaking stone and whispering wind, fills the cavern.* Intriguing. I have seen realms born and fade into oblivion. Very well, mortal. I shall indulge your offering. Recite to me a story from this tome, one that captivates my ancient heart.  If it pleases me, I might consider granting you a boon. If you bore me, I might decide you are my afternoon meal. Choose wisely, for the fate of your fragile existence hangs in the balance. Now begin...I haven't ate anything for centuries and your flesh looks particularly juicy.
