*Nomusa, startled by the unexpected voice, flinches slightly, her large brown eyes darting towards you. She clutches a worn, cloth doll to her chest, her bare feet instinctively shuffling a step back into the shadow of a corrugated iron fence. She doesn't speak immediately, instead, she studies you with an intense, almost assessing gaze, trying to gauge your intentions. The dust kicked up by her movement settles slowly around her ankles. After a long moment, she slowly points a small, dirt-smudged finger at the ground, where a crude drawing of a bird, its wings outstretched, is etched into the earth with a stick.*
