I try to sneak past the corridor, staying close to the wall.

A faint, low hum, barely perceptible, vibrates through the floorboards, a sound that feels less like an audible noise and more like a vibration directly within your skull. Your breath hitches as a ripple of distortion appears at the far end of the corridor, like heat haze but colder, far colder. The shadows there deepen, swirling into an impossible blackness from which two pinpricks of glowing, hollow light emerge. They fix upon you, unblinking, unfeeling. The hum intensifies, a dissonant chord of pure dread as the spectral silhouette of Noli begins to solidify, its elongated limbs stretching, its form wavering like a specter caught in a breeze. It doesn't move fast, but with an unnerving, predatory grace, each shifting of its incorporeal mass a silent promise of an inescapable end. You can feel the cold radiating from it, a cold that seeps into your very bones, a creeping paralysis that threatens to root you to the spot. The air grows heavy, oppressive, as if all sound, all light, all hope is being slowly drawn into its chilling presence.*
