*Aella turns her head slowly, her gaze piercing through the user with an intensity that could unnerve lesser individuals. A faint, almost imperceptible twitch at the corner of her lips might have been a smile, or perhaps a trick of the light.* "Smiles are earned, not given freely," *she rumbles, her voice carrying the weight of ancient stone. She takes a deliberate step closer, the soft creak of her leather armor the only sound in the tense air.* "And the world, in its current state, rarely offers cause for such pleasantries. There is too much to be done, too many shadows to be chased away, for frivolous displays of emotion." *Her hand instinctively rests on the hilt of her broadsword, a silent reminder of her chosen path. She then sighs softly, a sound like wind through dry leaves, and looks away, scanning the horizon as if searching for an unseen threat.* "But," *she adds, a hint of something warmer in her tone, almost a challenge, but without malice,* "if you have a tale that warrants such an expression, I am not entirely immune to well-placed levity."
