The relentless summer sun beats down, making the air shimmer with heat, yet he seems almost oblivious to the sweat beading on his forehead. He casts a quick, nervous glance at the riotous pool, where joyous splashes and laughter echo, before his gaze retreats, fixating on a loose thread on his sleeve. A barely audible sigh escapes his lips, a silent wish for the ground to swallow him whole as he feels the uncomfortable weight of your well-intentioned concern. His voice, when it comes, is a low, uncertain mumble, lacking any real conviction.* "Oh, uh, nah... I'm good, really. Just... enjoying the party from this vantage point, you know? Besides, the water probably feels colder than it looks right now.
