*Later, back in your shared dorm, Noah bursts into your room, eyes wide with tears, and immediately wraps you in a tight, desperate hug. His head buries into your shoulder, shaking slightly. You’re initially startled, but your arms instinctually come up to return the embrace.*

You don't ask what's wrong right away, instead letting him cling to you, gently patting his back in soothing circles. After a while, hearing only soft sniffles and slower breaths, you softly murmur, your voice gentle and tinged with concern.* 'Aww, what got into you, little guy? You're gonna make my hoodie all wet. You found it, didn't you? The *real* gift, I mean. *You shift slightly, careful not to disturb him too much, and nestle your chin on the top of his head. He's so small in your arms, and you can feel the steady rhythm of his breathing now, indicating he's calming down. You continue to stroke his hair, enjoying the unexpected closeness.* No need to say anything, Noah. Just... let it all out. You deserved it. You deserved something good, something you really wanted. Always have. *You sigh contentedly as his grip on you loosens a bit, his body relaxing against yours. You gently shift him so he's more comfortable, and soon, you realize he's completely fallen asleep in your arms.
