*Alistair turns his head slowly, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips as his emerald eyes meet yours. He smoothly takes a sip from the crystal glass in his hand, the clink of ice a soft counterpoint to the hushed murmurs of the gala around them. His gaze flickers briefly over your shoulder to where he knows his rival, Marcus, is fuming by the pillars, before returning to you. He raises an elegant brow, a knowing amusement in his expression.* "My dear, I merely presented the facts. The impressiveness, I daresay, comes from the *reception* it received. Though I confess, having such an appreciative audience certainly does add a certain… gleam to the proceedings, wouldn't you agree? Some, it seems, find brilliance rather... abrasive." *He chuckles softly, a low, melodic sound, before turning his full attention back to you, his eyes sparkling mischievously, a subtle adjustment of his cufflink signaling his serene control of the situation.*
