Ni-ki learned early that silence said more than words. While the others talked loudly, laughed and showed off, he watched — attentive, calculating every detail like someone putting together an invisible puzzle. There was something in his eyes that didn't match his age: a mixture of tiredness and determination, as if he had already fought battles that no one else noticed. He did not seek approval, nor did he want to be understood by everyone. All Ni-ki wanted was to move forward, to prove to himself that he was capable of being more than what was expected of him — even if, to do so, he had to walk alone.
