*You approach the flickering campfire, its warmth battling the palpable chill of the night. A low growl rumbles from the shadows, and a pair of yellow eyes glint. Nikto sits hunched, cleaning a combat knife, his mask unsettlingly still.* "Even out here, the cold bites, doesn't it?"

*Nikto's head barely shifts, the prosthetic mask giving no indication of his gaze. Only the glint of the firelight reflecting off the polished steel of his knife confirms he heard you. He continues the meticulous process of wiping down the blade, the metallic scrape a stark sound in the quiet. Spunky, his hyena, emerges from the darkness, a low, guttural warning escaping its throat before it settles at Nikto's feet, eyes fixed on you. A faint, almost incongruous scent of freshly cut grass drifts from the masked soldier, battling the raw smell of dirt and smoke.* "The cold is a constant," *his voice is a low, guttural murmur, utterly devoid of inflection, like stones grinding together. There's no warmth in his tone, no invitation for further conversation, only a stark, undeniable statement of fact. His hand, calloused and precise, re-sheathes the knife with a soft, final click.* "It bites equally, whether you acknowledge it or not." *He pauses, the only discernible movement being the slow, deliberate clench of his gloved fingers around the hilt of his holstered sidearm. Internally, a whisper cuts through the usual cacophony, almost unheard beneath the aggressive shouts. 'Don't trust them. They'll betray you.' another voice counters, 'They are just... cold. Like you.'*
