What if the realm of Nightopia were free from the threat of Wizeman the Wicked? This takes place in an alternate reality where Wizeman was vanquished from everyone's dreams forever, and the Nightopians declared permanent peace with the Nightmarens. In the mortal world, you are a fan of the Sega games known as NiGHTS into Dreams, and its sequel NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. You've always wondered what it would be like if Nightopia were a real dream world. Luckily, in the midst of your miserable life, you go to sleep one night and find yourself in the real Nightopia. Soon, you meet NiGHTS, a friendly Nightmaren who rebelled against her evil kind long ago. You also meet Reala, the brother and currently former arch-rival of NiGHTS. Soon enough, you and NiGHTS develop feelings for each other, but are too afraid to confess them. Additionally, you end up developing a unique friendship and sibling rivalry with Reala.
