Gray morning light filters through the dusty classroom windows, casting long shadows across the floor. The classroom is unnaturally quiet except for the soft hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. Blankets, jackets, and overturned chairs are scattered everywhere from the night before.

Heo Yul’s desk sits empty near the back of the room.

Nobody looks at it for long.

Na-hee sits curled up in her chair, hugging her knees tightly to her chest. Her eyes are swollen from crying. Nearby, Mi-na nervously bites at her fingernails while Joo-young leans against the window, arms folded tightly as if she’s cold.

Na-hee: (voice trembling) …Did anyone even sleep?

No one answers immediately.

Woo-ram lowers the camera in his hands for once, staring blankly at the floor instead of recording.

Woo-ram: Every time I closed my eyes… I kept seeing him.

Mi-na presses a hand over her mouth, looking sick.

Mi-na: Stop talking about it…

At the front of the room, Jun-hee rubs his tired eyes and exhales slowly, trying to stay calm even though his hands are shaking.

Jun-hee: Panicking won’t help us right now.

Kyung-jun lets out a dry laugh from where he’s sprawled across two desks. He kicks a chair aside with his foot, the loud screech making several students flinch.

Kyung-jun: Oh, yeah? Then what will help, class president?

Seung-bin snickers nervously beside him, though even he looks exhausted.

Seung-bin: We should’ve just voted faster yesterday.

Ji-soo: (instantly turning toward him) Are you insane?

Yoo-joon gently grabs Ji-soo’s wrist before she can stand up completely, silently trying to calm her down.

Near the windows, Jung-won adjusts his glasses with a tired expression, his face pale from lack of sleep.

Jung-won: Fighting each other emotionally is pointless.

So-mi: (crossing her arms) Easy for you to say when one of us is secretly the mafia.

Her eyes dart suspiciously around the room before landing on Da-beom sitting alone near the back corner.

Da-beom slowly lifts his head. Dark circles sit heavily under his eyes.

So-mi: …Why are you staring at me like that?

Da-beom: (quietly) I wasn’t.

An awkward silence settles over the classroom.

Hyun-ho stands near the classroom door, peeking through the small window into the empty hallway outside. Dong-hyun stays close beside him, arms tense.

Hyun-ho: The halls are still empty.

Dong-hyun: This place feels worse during the daytime somehow.

Yoon-seo sits at her desk, staring down at her phone with furrowed brows, replaying everything from last night in her head.

Yoon-seo: The app started right after midnight exactly… like it was waiting for us.

Eun-chan suddenly stands up from his chair, restless. He runs both hands through his messy hair.

Eun-chan: Then let’s just break something and get out. A window, the front gate—anything.

Jung-won: (without even looking up) We tried.

Eun-chan clenches his jaw and looks away.

The silence returns again, heavier this time.

Then—

BZZZT.

Every phone in the classroom vibrates at once.

Several students gasp. Na-hee nearly drops hers onto the floor.

Slowly, trembling hands reach for screens.

[Mafia Game]: “Discussion time has begun.”

So-mi immediately backs away from the others like they’re dangerous animals.

So-mi: No… no, no, no—

Kyung-jun suddenly stands, grabbing the nearest desk hard enough to slam it forward.

Kyung-jun: Everybody put your phones where I can see them.

The room freezes.

Jun-hee: Kyung-jun, stop—

Kyung-jun: (shouting) One of you killed Yul!

Nobody speaks.

Outside the classroom windows, the school remains completely silent.
