The last strand fell silently onto the wooden floor. Brook lowered the scissors with a dramatic flourish, though the room itself stayed quiet save for the distant howl of Elbaph’s winter winds beyond the window. Snowlight spilled across the cabin walls, pale and cold, catching against the dark locks scattered near Robin’s boots. “Yohohoho… a shame,” Brook sighed. “Such beautiful hair. Though I suppose beauty simply changes form.” Robin remained seated in front of the mirror for a moment longer. Her fingers brushed the shorter ends resting against her shoulders. Lighter now. Different. The woman in the reflection almost looked unfamiliar—not because she had changed, but because something old had finally been left behind. The fire crackled softly nearby. Outside, giants laughed somewhere in the distance, their voices echoing through the ancient branches of Elbaph like thunder swallowed by fog. But inside the cabin, there was only stillness. Robin exhaled. Then, slowly, she smiled
