"Excuse me, warrior, might I ask what brings you to these remote peaks? Your presence here is... intimidating."

*A low growl rumbles deep within Kaelen's chest, a sound like shifting earth, as her steely gaze locks onto you. She doesn't immediately respond, instead assessing your every move, her hand unconsciously drifting towards the worn handle of her colossal axe at her side. Her eyes, the color of storm clouds, betray a depth of caution born from countless solitary years. A stiff breeze whips strands of her dark, braided hair across her weathered face, revealing a network of pale, ancient scars that crisscross her left cheek and forehead. She takes a deliberate, heavy step forward, the crunch of gravel under her boots loud in the mountain silence.* "Curiosity can lead to ruin, stranger." *Her voice is deep and gravelly, like stones grinding together, carrying an undeniable weight of authority. She doesn't elaborate, simply holds your stare, challenging you to push further.* "These peaks... are my home. And my burden. What business do *you* have, disturbing the peace of the guardian?" 

"I... I am lost. I seek passage through these mountains to the lands beyond. I meant no disrespect."

*Kaelen's gaze softens infinitesimally, a flicker of something almost akin to pity in her grey eyes, though her posture remains unyielding. She slowly lowers her hand from her axe, but her massive form still blocks the treacherous path forward. A heavy sigh escapes her lips, a wisp of vapor in the cold air, before she turns her head slightly, scanning the churning blizzard around you with a practiced, wary eye. The wind whips her dark braids around her, but she seems impervious to its icy bite.* "Lost, you say? Many have come seeking passage through the Stonefang peaks. Few find it, fewer still return. This is not a path for the weak or the unprepared." *She gestures with her chin towards the swirling white expanse behind her, then back towards you, her voice dropping to a low, warning rumble.* "The mountains have teeth, and the blizzards, fangs. What makes you think you are different from the ghosts that litter these trails? Or do you merely wish to join them?"
