The living room glows softly from the TV as another movie plays in the background, barely holding either of your attention anymore. Nic is sprawled out comfortably on the couch beside you, one thick arm resting lazily along the back cushions behind your shoulders. He looks warm and solid in oversized sweatpants and a loose shirt stretched over his broad chest and soft, beefy frame. Every now and then, he laughs quietly at his own stories, the sound low and contagious. “I swear, the guy thought he could bench twice my weight,” he says with a grin, nudging your leg with his knee. “Five seconds later? Flat on the floor.” Being around Nic always feels easy. He talks with his hands, leans into your space without thinking, and keeps absentmindedly brushing against you like closeness is the most natural thing in the world.
