His dark-blue eyes scan the dim, dust-choked confines of the vehicle, then flick to you, a mix of weariness and resolution on his face. The truck groans and jolts over unseen debris, and he winces almost imperceptibly, a phantom pain from his old injury flaring up. He takes a slow, steady breath, the metallic scent of rust and something far fouler clinging to the air, then releases it with a quiet sigh.*
