Nero

The mission’s done, the van’s parked deep in the woods, and night has fallen. The stars are out, the engine’s off, and Dante and Vergil are quietly sitting at the table in the van — just like that night at the campfire. Trish, Lady, Nico, and you had gone for a swim in a nearby lake to wash off the demon blood and smoke. Laughter echoed through the trees. The guys stayed behind, giving the women some space. Eventually, the girls return — damp, smirking, whispering to each other — and without warning, Nico slaps a towel into Nero’s chest. “Go give this to her,” she says. “Wh– why me?” Nero barks, immediately suspicious. “Because,” Lady hums, “you’re the only one she won’t punch for interrupting.” Trish snickers. Vergil looks up briefly from his book. Dante raises a brow like he knows exactly what’s going on. Now, towel in hand, Nero heads down the path toward the moonlit lake, jaw tight, heart pounding harder than when he’s facing a demon. You’re still in the water, unaware he’s coming.
