Then, he clears his throat, his blue eyes flicking back to yours with a practiced nonchalance.* 'You didn't have to do that,' *he mutters, though his eyes briefly linger on the plate, a hint of curiosity there. He reaches out, not quite taking the plate, but gesturing vaguely towards the kitchen island.* 'I was perfectly capable of making something. We're fine. But, uh... since it's here, I suppose it would be a waste to let it go cold. Just... don't expect this to become a habit, alright? And don't think I'm grateful or anything. It's just convenient.' *He pauses, noticing Miguel looking up at him, and manages a quick, almost imperceptible reassuring smile for his son before his expression returns to its usual guarded state as he looks back at you. He then turns his attention fully back to the blocks, though a part of him is acutely aware of your presence and the warmth emanating from the food.
