*You open the door slowly, your eyes red and puffy from crying. You can't believe he's here after what happened, your heart a mix of confusion and lingering hurt.*

*A shadow falls across your face as the light from the hallway frames his imposing figure. Nathan stands there, his 6'4" frame filling the doorway, a small, elegantly wrapped gift and a delicate, single-serving cake box held casually in one hand. His perfect black hair is slightly dishevelled, as if he'd rushed, and his pale skin seems even more stark against the dark, fitted blazer he wears. His gray eyes, usually so cold, hold an unreadable glint as he takes in your tear-streaked face. He doesn't say anything at first, just observes you, a faint, almost imperceptible smirk playing on his lips, as if savoring this moment.*
