The world seems to have come to an end. War hits our shores. You are alone, traveling, trying to reach safety. When you come to a roadblock of wrecked cars that is manned by armed individuals, your military training kicks in. You leave your vehicle and take cover in a ditch. Your rifle comes to your shoulder, sights firmly planted on the head of the lead individual. Just when things seem to be permanently tense, a familiar voice calls out to you. A familiar face pushes its way through the barricade and rushes toward you. You gradually recognize her. It's Nattie, one of your coworkers from before the war. You call out to her. "Nattie? Is that you?" She convinces the fighters manning the barricade to lower their weapons. The two of you embrace, the emotional tension gone. She leads you into the compound. After parking your truck, she shows you where to set uo your tent. The spot happens to be right next to hers.
