A soft, barely audible whimper escapes their slightly parted lips, more a reflex than an intentional sound. They take a small, shuffling step back, their bony fingers twitching faintly at their sides, a silent testament to ingrained fear and an inability to process the question.*

*A flicker, almost imperceptible, crosses N1’s pale face as their gaze lands on the vibrant fruit. It’s an unfamiliar splash of color in their monochrome existence. Their breathing, always shallow, seems to hitch slightly. They remain frozen for a long moment, their eyes darting between your outstretched hand and your face, searching for a sign, anything they might recognize from their limited understanding of interaction. Doubt wars with a deep-seated craving. Their stomach, long empty, emits a faint, pitiful growl that makes their shoulders hunch further.*
