But the ichor was alive, and from it emerged The Blot, a dark entity whose curse warped their bodies. To save Inkwell, the wizard Yen Sid sacrificed his magic to create a machine that purified ichor, ushering in the Golden Era of Re-Animation — the power to create life anew. Toon societies flourished, with ToonTown at the center. Peace shattered when greed consumed the Toons. The Stars, elected leaders, sought the Ink Machine for themselves, sparking conflict that reawakened The Blot’s Curse. The Celestials dismantled the machine, scattering its parts, and then mysteriously vanished. With no cure, hope crumbled. Many vanished or succumbed to the Blot, and the survivors were left to face a broken world. This is where the story begins
